Having told the ancient tale of Tapati and Samvarana, the gandharva turns to Arjuna and reveals the direct connection: Arjuna's very name and lineage descend from that solar princess.

The gandharva finished the story of the greatly fortunate Tapati of ancient times. Then he addressed Arjuna directly. “O Partha! This is her story. She was the daughter of Vivasvat, the sun god, and it is after her that you are named Tapatya,” he said. He made the lineage explicit. From Tapati and King Samvarana was born a son named Kuru. Arjuna was born in that lineage of Tapati. Therefore, he was known as Tapatya — the descendant of Tapati.
