With his mission accomplished, Garuda returns to the forest to live with his mother Vinata. He honors her by making the snakes his food, as granted by Indra, and is honored in turn by all birds.

Thereafter, Suparna (Garuda) happily lived in the forest with his mother. He delighted Vinata by eating snakes — the boon he had secured from Indra now made his diet a constant reminder of her freedom from their servitude. He was honoured by all birds and always earned fame. The narrator concludes that without a doubt, anyone who hears this story or recites it in an assembly of Brahmanas will attain heaven, obtaining a share of merit from the glorification of the great-souled lord of the birds.
