The river near King Vasu's city is blocked by a mountain maddened by lust. Vasu intervenes with a single kick, freeing the waters and receiving a unexpected reward from the grateful river.

The river Shuktimati flowed near King Vasu’s city. One day, the mountain Kolahola, maddened by lust, attacked the river and blocked its course. Vasu saw the trapped waters. He did not summon an army or order a project. He walked up to the obstructive mountain and kicked it with his foot. The force of the kick created a gully. The river Shuktimati burst free and flowed through it. Grateful for its liberation, the river gave the king a gift. From its embrace with the mountain, it had given birth to twins. Vasu, a rajarshi (royal sage), accepted them. He made the son the general of his army. The daughter, named Girika, he made his wife.
