Prahasta rushes at Vibhishana and strikes him with a mace, but Vibhishana does not stagger — he stands firm like the Himalayas. Then Vibhishana invokes a mantra on a gigantic spear and flings it at Prahasta's head with the speed of the vajra, slicing it off. Prahasta falls like a tree struck by wind, and Dhumraksha charges forward in response.

Prahasta rushed at Vibhishana. He was harsh in battle, and he struck Vibhishana with a mace — a blow of terrible force. Vibhishana did not stagger. The intelligent and mighty-armed one stood firm, like the Himalayas themselves. Then he grasped a gigantic spear, large and fitted with a hundred bells. He invoked it with a mantra, and flung it at Prahasta's head. The spear descended with the speed of the vajra (Indra's thunderbolt). It struck with great force and sliced off the rakshasa's head. Prahasta fell. He was seen to drop to the ground like a tree struck by wind. Dhumraksha saw his comrade fall. And he rushed at the monkeys with great speed.
