The Pandavas return to their worried mother Kunti
After winning Draupadi, Arjuna and Bhima are mobbed by celebrating Brahmanas and are late returning to the hut where their mother Kunti waits. Filled with anxious thoughts of recognition, murder, or rakshasas, she fears the worst until her sons finally enter in the late afternoon, safe and triumphant.
The contest was over, but the brothers could not easily leave. Surrounded by jubilant Brahmanas attired in deerskins, Bhima and Arjuna found it difficult to pass through the crowd. Eventually, the two radiant warriors freed themselves. Draupadi followed them.
Their mother had been waiting. They were late returning from their daily round for alms, and a mother's mind filled with anxious thoughts. Kunti feared various evils. Had Dhritarashtra's sons recognized her boys and killed them? Had some terrible rakshasas, versed in powers of maya and firm in their enmity, slain her sons?
Then she grasped for hope. Could the great-souled Vyasa's predictions be wrong? His prophecies had foretold their future. Filled with love and fear, Pritha wrestled with these thoughts alone.
Late in the afternoon, the worry ended. Jishnu — Arjuna — entered their humble dwelling, Bhima with him, accompanied by many Brahmanas with the new Brahmana bride at their forefront. They entered like the sun finally breaking through clouds.
