After a long separation, Damayanti arrives in Vidarbha to find her children, parents, and friends all well. Her father rewards the messenger who found her, and Damayanti rests at last in her father's house — but she has more to say to her mother.

After a short while, Damayanti arrived in Vidarbha. All her relatives welcomed her happily, showing her homage. She saw that her children were well. Her mother and father were well. Her friends were well. Everything she had left behind was still there, waiting for her. She worshipped the gods and the brahmanas in accordance with the best of rites — the rites of a queen who had returned home. King Bhima was delighted to see his daughter. He rewarded Sudeva, the messenger who had found her, with a thousand cows, a great deal of riches, and a village. The man who had searched the earth for Damayanti was now a wealthy man. The beautiful lady spent the night in her father's house. When she had rested, she spoke to her mother. What she said would set the next phase of her story in motion.
