Jayadratha Abducts Draupadi Despite Resistance
Draupadi sees Jayadratha is about to seize her and cries out in fear, seeking help from the priest Dhoumya. Jayadratha grasps her by her upper garment; she pushes him away, causing him to fall, but he seizes her again with great force and forces her onto the chariot. Dhoumya follows on foot, warning that Jayadratha will face the Pandavas.
Draupadi's eyes dilated. She saw that they were about to seize her. She cried out in fear: "Do not touch me." She sought help from the priest Dhoumya.
Jayadratha grasped her by her upper garment. She pushed him away with all her strength. Pushed by her, the evil one fell — like a tree that had been uprooted.
But she was seized again, with great force. The princess began to sigh repeatedly.
Krishna (Draupadi) showed obeisance at Dhoumya's feet. Then she was made to ascend the chariot.
Dhoumya said: "Without vanquishing the maharathas (great warriors), you cannot take her away. O Jayadratha! You should remember the ancient dharma of the kshatriyas. There is no doubt that you will reap the fruits of this mean and evil act. You will encounter the brave Pandavas, with Dharmaraja at the forefront."
The famous princess was being carried away. Having said this, Dhoumya followed — entering the ranks of the infantry on foot. Aranyaka Parva, Chapter 549
