Arjuna and Krishna Plan a Pleasure Trip to the Yamuna
With the arrival of the warm season, Arjuna suggests a recreational trip to Krishna. They decide to spend a day sporting in the water with their friends, first securing permission from the ever-dutiful Yudhishthira.
The warm days arrived, and Arjuna felt the pull of leisure. He went to Krishna and said, “O Krishna! The warm season is here. O Madhusudana! O Janardana! Let us go towards the Yamuna. If you agree, let us sport there with our friends and return in the evening.”
Krishna’s reply was immediate and full of shared enthusiasm. “O son of Kunti! O son of Pritha! That is my wish too. For as long as we desire, let us sport with our friends in the water.”
But this was not a kingdom where the king’s sons simply wandered off. Following protocol, the two friends consulted with Dharmaraja Yudhishthira and obtained his permission. Only then did Partha, Govinda, and their company of friends set out from Indraprastha, turning their course toward the pleasure grounds by the river.
