Draupadi has finished speaking. The five Pandavas, equal to five Indras, ignore the terrified infantry and turn their fury on Jayadratha's chariot army, unleashing dark showers of arrows from all sides.

Draupadi's words hung in the air. Jayadratha knew exactly who was coming for him. The five Parthas — the sons of Pritha, Kunti — were equal to five Indras. They saw the terrified infantry standing with hands joined in salutation, begging for mercy. They ignored them entirely. Their target was Jayadratha, and the army of chariots that surrounded him. They attacked from all sides. Dark showers of arrows fell on Jayadratha's forces — arrows that came from Bhima's bow, from Arjuna's, from the twins'. The sky grew thick with them. The chariot army, caught between the five brothers, had nowhere to turn. The Pandavas were angry, and their anger took the form of a storm of shafts that blotted out the sun. The battle had begun.
